bringing sport business education closer to the industry

ABOUT

The objective of The Equipt Project is to spark more discussion around vocational teaching and training of sports business subjects getting closer to the real world challenges of the industry resulting in more qualified graduates.

We are seeking community co-operation from lecturers, careers/employability/knowledge-transfer experts, students and sports employers to form a sports business learning hub.

How are we going to achieve that?

  • By fostering more opportunities for communication and co-operation between all stakeholders - do we talk enough to each other?

  • By promoting best practise and championing new ideas - perhaps we don't boast enough about the good work we're already doing?

  • By keeping pace with sports employers and their requirements

  • By engaging practitioner lecturers with industry experience as classroom guests or more permanent fixtures

  • By encouraging knowledge exchange through partnerships, site visits, case studies, research, internships and work placements

  • By promoting the many and varied mutual benefits

We’re in an early phase.

The first horizons are to launch this website as a community hub, develop useful content and host events that will provide a platform for growth.

The content we offer will be focused on sports business subjects: management, administration, governance, media, events, marketing, sponsorship, sports tourism, finance, venues, ticketing, retail etc.

We're open to ideas - we're happy to share your content - please get in touch.

Welcome to The Equipt Project from Dave Williams

Forum At Fulham

We hosted our first forum event at Fulham's Craven Cottage on September 14th with sport business practitioners presenting in a "keeping pace with industry" session and some innovative academic delivery models presented and discussed in the "successful partnerships" part.

Delegates enjoyed exchanges with Ed Warner of Sport Inc as our special guest, Alex Coulson of NSE, Matt Cutler of Two Circles, Tarryn Horner of Laureus, Jamie Dapaah of Fulham FC and Dan Parr of InSport Education.

Considerable food for thought on learning by doing and industry collaboration was provided by Polly Wardle of Bristol City FC Robins Foundation and and Emily Hayday of Loughbrough London.

Please find below some trailers for interviews we've done to help apply theory to practical scenarios in sports business.

We are very happy for these to be used for teaching purposes.

Also happy to share similar work and partnership case studies in any format, on sport business subjects (incl. contributor credit)
